GASAN, Marinduque (PIA) -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) MIMAROPA through DOLE Marinduque Field Office awarded a livelihood check amounting to P1,200,000.00 to the Local Government Unit of Gasan, Marinduque.
A total of 100 beneficiaries will benefit from the livelihood project which include 15 parents of identified child laborers from the said municipality.
The livelihood financial assistance is intended to enhance the existing rice retailing and food vending business of the beneficiaries.
Field Office Head Philip T. Alano along with Senior LEO Marjun S. Moreno, LDS Christian Mark Rodelas, and CF Jomarah Manlisis presented the check to Gasan Municipal Mayor Rolando O. Tolentino. PESO Manager Michael Pelagio and Municipal Treasurer Rafael Nazareno also attended the awarding ceremony.
During the awarding, Mayor Tolentino expressed his gratefulness as he received and welcomed the assistance from DOLE. In his message, he thanked the department for the livelihood grant which will generate income for the family and also create significant impact to the municipality’s growth.
FO Head Mr. Alano congratulated LGU Gasan and encouraged them to maximize and nurture the livelihood grant for it to prosper and strengthen their partnership in creating more job and business opportunities for Marinduquenos.
The livelihood project grant is under DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP) through its DOLE Kabuhayan Program that seeks to contribute to poverty reduction and reduce the vulnerability to risks of the working poor, vulnerable and marginalized workers either through emergency employment, and promotion of entrepreneurship and community enterprises.
